Use this page to record your blood counts. Red blood cells are measured by the hemoglobin and hematocrit tests. Hematocrit measures the percentage of blood volume that is made up of red blood cells. Hemaglobin measures the oxygen-carrying capacity of the red blood cells. As their primary function, red blood cells carry oxygen to your tissues. When you do not have enough red blood cells, you have a condition called anemia. White blood cells help protect the body by fighting bacteria that cause infection. Each of the five types of white blood cells has a specific job.
Platelets help your blood to clot to prevent excessive bleeding. When your platelets are low, you are more likely to bleed and bruise from even the slightest injuries.
