What you can do at home
- Gentle back rubs or massages may be relaxing for some patients.
- Create a quiet environment in which to sleep by decreasing noise, dimming lights, adjusting room temperature, and keeping bedding and pillows clean, dry and wrinkle-free.
- Try not to drink before bed. Empty bowel and bladder before retiring for the night.
- Avoid drinks with caffeine before bed.
- Minimize daytime naps.
- Listen to relaxation tapes and or peaceful music before bed.
