John Kimble Frazer, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

John Kimble Frazer, MD, PhD, is an investigator at Huntsman Cancer Institute and an assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Utah. He is also an attending physician of pediatric hematology/oncology at Primary Children's Medical Center and at the University of Utah Hospital. He is a member of the Nuclear Control of Cell Growth and Differentiation Program.

Frazer's scientific interests include molecular mechanisms that prevent DNA mutations, and the immune system and its development. At Huntsman Cancer Institute in cooperation with Brad Cairns, PhD, he investigates how RNA interference (RNAi), a recently discovered gene regulatory system, controls genomic stability. In collaboration with Nikolaus Trede, MD, PhD, Frazer studies how patterns of DNA methylation control gene expression in T-cell development.

Frazer received his PhD from the Molecular Microbiology Graduate Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Dallas, Texas. He then finished his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. Following, Frazer completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology, both at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
